ABOUT SOFIA
There’s an urban legend that Hemingway once wrote a novel in just six words. Sofia’s six-word story:
Life’s short, but I’m shorter.
A 5 '1, southern, South Asian, overly optimistic adult, Sofia always struggled to see the board over the tops of her classmates' heads (it doesn’t help that she has terrible vision), but more frustratingly, her purpose.
However, stories celebrating coming of age––at any age––have inspired Sofia to celebrate her inner child (and the fact that she’ll never grow taller than 5’1) as a producer of young adult and middle grade content. She strives to cling to her inner child, her insatiable curiosity, and her infinite creativity to bring joy, discovery, and magic to storytelling that relishes in the full spectrum of human emotion and its resiliency as we learn not how to live but how to forget to live.
Sofia’s commitment to this storytelling has been recognized by festivals like South by Southwest and the National Film Festival for Talented Youth. An avid reader and writer, she is also a 12-time published author who publicly champions the power of literacy to elevate the stories of our youth and cultivate authentic personal voices from a young age.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Sofia has traded her cowboy hat for bucket hats and is currently based in Los Angeles, where she recently graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in film and television production from the University of Southern California. It is here in the City of Angels, influencers, and overpriced ice cream that she now calls home.
